"The Great Redemption" (37)

"The Great Redemption" by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto

-- A Discourse on The End of the Exile and the Beginning of the Great Redemption

Translated by Rabbi Yaakov Feldman

37.

But let’s go back to the point at hand. It’s the power of the Higher Yichud that will shield; but I’ve hinted at a great secret to you and I can’t explicate it any further.

It’s written, “Ephraim is my precious son?” (Jeremiah 31:19). Why is he termed “precious”? -- because “his eye sees every precious thing” (Job 28:10), which has to do with the mystery of Chochma. And they become a delight thanks to the power of their lights that shore themselves up, which is the secret import of the phrase “a delightful son” (Jeremiah 31:19).

And it’s written “whenever I speak of him, I earnestly remember him still” (Ibid.) because it will have affected such a great reparation by increasing the love. And the Verse concludes with, “so my inward parts yearn for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says G-d”. For by clinging to (the Source of life) he'll find life, which I’ve already spoken about.

But know that the Jewish Nation will leave exile when all the purifications are done. And they’ll sing when they reach Amanah.
