"The Great Redemption" (33)

"The Great Redemption" by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto

-- A Discourse on The End of the Exile and the Beginning of the Great Redemption

Translated by Rabbi Yaakov Feldman

33.

Observe that it’s written, “the flowers appear on the earth” (Song of Songs 2:12). That refers to the produce that will blossom (then), the first of which will be the (two) Moshichim. The (Divine) union won’t be interrupted -- perish the thought! -- from then on, but will become even more vigorous and grow stronger and stronger along with a mighty longing and a powerful love.

It's (also) written that “the time of the songbird has arrived” (Ibid.) because the Shechina would be singing to her Husband (by then, and), “the voice of the turtledove (will be) heard in the land” (Ibid.).

While the King will not have come out of the garden (yet), He’ll be walking about in it, and the righteous and the Jewish Nation that would have been redeemed will rejoice in it. In fact, that’s the sort of great joy that the Jewish Nation will experience from the redemption onward. For since the first (stage) is emended in the course of the exile itself, before the Jewish Nation will have left, everything will be in a perpetual state of unity from then on. The lights will shine brighter and brighter by the minute, and the gladness (that all will enjoy) will reach heights that are simply impossible to depict.
