"The Great Redemption" (23)

"The Great Redemption" by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto

-- A Discourse on The End of the Exile and the Beginning of the Great Redemption

Translated by Rabbi Yaakov Feldman

23.

The P’kidah will accomplish something else as well. We find that when it came to the redemption from Egypt that immediately after it’s written that “G-d looked upon the people of Israel” (Exodus 2:25) we’re told that “Moses tended ... flock” (Exodus 3:1).

Understand this well. The Crown will begin to be fashioned for the Moshiach at the time of the P’kidah. And as is known, that Crown is the Yechidah.

Now, between the time of the P’kidah and the Z’chirah, the man who will be adjudged to redeem (the Jewish Nation) will be made suitable to be amended and repaired, and readied for his task. And he’ll then be elevated to infinitely great heights.

The Holy One will crown him then with the crown of His Glory. And that’s why it’s written, “Moses tended ... flock”. Because he was amended and repaired until it came time for him to stand upon Horeb and to be bidden to redeem (the Jewish Nation).
