"The Great Redemption" (27)

"The Great Redemption" by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto

-- A Discourse on The End of the Exile and the Beginning of the Great Redemption

Translated by Rabbi Yaakov Feldman

27.

Now, understand that all of existence and all created beings -- even the more external ones -- emanate downward from Tipheret. So once they reunite with their source it will become known that G-d is One and that there’s no other Source but He. For everything is from Him and everything emanates from Him like branches from a tree. The Shechina will then return and connect everything as well as elevate and draw them close to the King in order to be blessed.

Thus (it will be proven in the end that) those nations who worship the stars and their sources and are drawn toward loathsome things, idols, and all sorts of foreign forms of worship, have foolishly chosen broken cisterns -- i.e., the harlot Lillit -- instead of the Shechina.

For in the end G-d’s name will be one and the Shechina alone will be (perceived) in the world -- “a happy mother of children” (Psalms 113:9) who will guide Her myriads and “grant food to her household and a portion to Her maidens” (Proverbs 31:15).

This will prove to be the greatest good and the ultimate rectification, for (all-round) rectification will advance onward by degrees until it reaches this one.
